WATER Program

AGES 5-10 / MON & WED / 1 HR SESSION

These classes will focus on developing basic physical skills needed for judo and life, building healthy habits, and learning new teamwork and social skills.

Program goals: Make learning judo fun, build a healthy habit of exercise (healthy body, healthy mind), develop a positive mental attitude, and learn basic athletic abilities.

Learning outcomes:

  • Physical skills (jumping, rolling, turning, cartwheels, body control)

  • How to fall safely

  • Judo Fundamentals (foot sweeps, groundwork basics, forward and backward throwing techniques)

  • How to build healthy habits

  • Teamwork

  • Positive mental attitude

FIRE Program

AGES 11-14 / TUE & THU / 1.5 HR SESSION

These classes will focus on teamwork, social skills, building healthy habits, goal setting, intermediate judo skills, self-control and the values of judo. With emphasis on the moral code of judo and its 8 core values, participants will gain a sense of self-discipline and respect. At this age kids can also begin to set goals and the belt system is a great motivator.

Program goals: Learn the moral code of judo, develop the ability to use various judo techniques, build confidence by setting and achieving goals, learn leadership skills by helping the younger students in the class.

Learning outcomes:

  • Physical skills (develop fitness through judo)

  • How to fall safely

  • Judo skills (throwing in multiple directions, combinations, groundwork transitions)

  • Goal setting skills (If I work hard, I can achieve a higher belt)

  • Focus and self-control

  • Moral code of judo

AIR Program

AGES 15+/ADULT / BEGINNER JUDO / MON & WED / 1.5 HR SESSION / + POPAT

These classes are great for those ages 14 years and older who wish to learn judo. No experience is required.

These classes will focus on developing physical fitness through judo, building healthy habits, learning core judo techniques, developing self-defence techniques and improving athletic abilities. We will also include POPAT specific exercises for those who are intending to end up in law enforcement. Program goals: Improve physical fitness while learning judo and having fun, learn the basic judo fundamentals, make new friends, improve coordination and build confidence by setting and achieving goals

Learning outcomes:

  • How to fall safely

  • Basic athletic abilities

  • Range of Judo techniques

  • Self-defense skills

  • The moral code of judo

  • Improving fitness can be fun

PEAK Program

AGES 15+/ADULT / ADVANCED JUDO / TUE & THU & SAT / 2 HR SESSION

This program is intended for adults and teenagers who have earned at least a green belt in Judo.

These classes will focus on developing technical expertise, building a judo style that fits the individual, improving physical fitness through judo and specific fitness exercises, goal setting, and developing leadership abilities. Competitions will be offered for all age groups in this program.

Program goals: Develop expertise on an individualized judo skill set, reach a high level of physical fitness, build leadership skills by helping others in the class and build strong friendships.

Learning outcomes:

  • Judo techniques specific to your body type and judo style

  • Judo strategies

  • Judo specific athletic abilities (agility, balance, co-ordination, speed, tumbling)

  • How to set and achieve goals

  • Different ways to improve your physical fitness

  • Self-discipline and respect through the moral code of judo

  • Teamwork and leadership skills
